In life, we are bound to experience challenges that put us down, and it sometimes makes us forget to look at the brighter side of things. But with help from friends and family, they will help us find happiness again. We just need to become positive and thankful for whatever we may have,
"Happiness is not something ready-made. It comes from your own actions."
-Dalai Lama
People often dream of happiness. Almost everyone, when asked about what they want in life, the answer will most likely be happiness. Happiness is the primary goal-others are only secondary. When a mother is asked what she wants for her child, the answer will surely be happiness. Finding happiness in the world is hard, but to find it when you hate the world is not just challenging but really daunting.
For someone who was on top of their career a few years ago, happiness was mostly based on achievement. That was when they were struck by tragedy. They were supposed to be sent to the head office of my company in Vancouver. But fate was against their career path. I was diagnosed with a kidney disease. The same disease that has killed members of their family.
Sadly they shared the same fate as their loved ones did. They stayed in the hospital to undergo different procedures, which ended up testing their faith and strength. Getting support from a close friend, he realized how wonderful life is. He should not be hindered by such an awful disease, instead let it push him to fight, and he did. It made him realize happiness arrives through different routes.
Here was their journey to finding happiness while hating everything that was happening around him:
1.Acceptance
In my experience, knowing and excepting things make everything easier. Though it may not cure the pain your in, it may still help you grieve. Acknowledging pain can make moving on easier. In due time, the pain will subside and sadness will diminish.
2.Surrounding yourself with people who love you
To be encouraged from people helps strengthen and may help you rejuvenate. To feel support makes you feel safer and they can help you stay away from old wounds. If you only see sticky mud after the rain, you will overlook the beautiful rainbow above. The key is positivity. With friends, family and even pets, you can find a route to happiness passable.
3.Distract yourself
Keep yourself busy and focus on other stuff. Try joining activities to help energize your body. Activities like dancing. exercising, or singing is a better way to waste time. So release try releasing energy and tension! You'll notice the difference after awhile.
4.Smile
Try smiling at people more, for even just smiling can make you happier. When er are in pain, this is the first thing we forget. We wallow in too much of our losses we forget our ability to smile. Smile and focus on what can make you happy.
5.Be positive
When life gives you lemons,, then make lemonade. When it becomes difficult and hard we need to be resilient. Don't let it put us down. Looking at the positive side of things can bring wonderful resolutions to whatever problems we encounter. Make the sour sweet.
6.Calm yourself by writing
When you feel down or like the world's against you, try to calm yourself by writing. Keep a journal of how you feel, it can make you see things in a different light. It may allow you to work through the emotions, making you feel better and see life as extra beautiful.
7.Be thankful
Aside from being positive, being thankful for what we have is another key to happiness, whatever the situation may be. Most of the time because we are in pain, we don't see the bigger picture. We only see what you don't like, but what we hate. But the fact is that we are alive and the simple things, what we have like food on our table, are reasons enough to be happy.
In life, we may encounter hardships but this should never hinder us in continuing our pursuit of happiness. Because that's what Audrey Hepburn said;
"The most important thing is to enjoy life- to be happy- it's all that matters."
